A Glimpse at the Beginning

My parents met while holidaying with their daughters from previous relationships. In Spain but I was born in Kent, in a very old Hospital which, is no longer there, but is forever immortalised in Charles Dickens book, "Oliver Twist".

"All Saints Hospital" was once the work- house which, inspired the story.

I was a happy funny girl, who loved to sing and dance for my family.I loved school, and at 5 I started a dance class.

At six years old, my parents moved from Kent to Murcia in Spain.

Life in Spain

At first, we lived in Mula, a big town in the mountains.  I learned Spanish quickly. My mum had helped me to start to learn for a long time before we moved to Spain.

My parents deliberately went to live in a Spanish town so I could learn about the culture and language.

I had friends, I was integrating well. My two older sisters had stayed in England, So I was now an only child. It was a happy time.

We Moved again.

After two years, we moved further into the mountains, as my dad had a new job, we still had the house in Mula, as we intended to move back at some time in the future. The new town was a beautiful place but now I had to start a new school.

I was lucky the school was lovely, run by nuns, they were fun and happy. By then I was doing very well at school and could speak like a native. I even taught English classes at school.

Around this time, I was diagnosed with a heart condition. I was 8 years old. I started, every now again to get a pain in my chest. We had about 2 years of tests and regular trips to the City to see the pediatrician.

I had friends but as I got older, I realised I was treated differently from the other children. It wasn’t bullying as such but it was exclusion. I was still doing very well at school and my mum was teaching me English at home. By the time I was in year 6, I was being bullied full time.
